Golden Retreat For K9's - Caring & Loving Dog Boarding & Sitting Services

About Us
My first dog, Barney, was a Golden Retriever puppy, given to me by my boyfriend.  I never had a dog before this and Barney and I went everywhere together.  He loved riding in the car.  A few years later, I added to my dog family with Brandy (Golden Retriever), Buffy (Golden Retriever), Alfetta (Gordon Setter mix), Bailey (Golden Retriever), Sheeba (Greyhound), Kevitt (Greyhound), Kenlee (Greyhound), Bruno (Maremma) and Krissy (Golden Retriever). In June of 2008 I lost my Bruno.  He was the last doggie child.  He was a very special dog and is greatly missed.  Instead of having another dog I decided that I wanted to help other dogs by caring for them while their owners are away.  The end of 2008 I started Golden Retreat For K9's.  I started construction in October of 2009 of a 3800 square foot building that is like a hotel for doggies. In the Spring of 2010 just before the hotel was completed I decided to foster a 2 year old Great Pyrenees.  Now I am a failed foster to Max.  He looks a lot like Bruno.  In June of 2010 when opening the new hotel I became a more active volunteer with the Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue and fostered several of these wonderful giants here.  In October of 2011, I started fostering Newfoundlands from the Colonial Newfoundland Rescue.  This giant breed can be larger than the Pyrs and has a gentle dispostion.  My goal is to help Pyrs and Newfs find a loving home.  I also have 2 other Pyrs of mine named Casper and Charlie.  Casper is the resident guard for the doggie hotel.  Charlie keeps Max in line in my home!  In addition to assisting Pyrs and Newfs, the Goldens are still in my heart.  I volunteer with GRREAT (Golden Retreiver Rescue, Education adn Training) organization.  This rescue finds homes for many Goldens who are great family dogs.  For information about adopting a Golden please visit www.grreat.org.  For Pyrs and Newfs see below.  For a wonderful local shelter please visit www.rawldogs.org.  Rawl is a no kill shelter in Rappahannock County, Virginia.
The hotel is 300 feet from my home so I am always close by. I specialize in older dogs and dogs needing more care.  I do not charge extra for administering medicine (except injections).  I will require that you bring your own food, treats, play toys, personal things and beds (optional) for your dog(s) so they will feel at home and will not have tummy problems from new food.  I offer free consulting for health issues and information on proper nutrition.
